Convocation
Every day
Details
A convocation in a church is a formal meeting of people, usually for a religious purpose. The word comes from the Latin word convocare, which means "to call/come together".
The word "Church" means "convocation." We are the "called-out" ones. It designates the assembly of those whom God's Word "convokes," i.e., gathers together to form the People of God, and who themselves, nourished with the Body of Christ, become the Body of Christ.
Convocation is like a spiritual new year - I mean at Convocation God releases and refreshes. And it is a time that we receive direction from God and so as we prepare for convocation, we are cleaning things out. We are emptying out. We are quietly waiting to hear from God for this next phase of our individual and collective lives. So we make ready so we can hear from God.
